Last year I was visited Vellore, the most renowned name in allopathic treatment. Vellore is a district situated 145km away from the capital of Tamil Nadu. Today Vellore is a fast growing district in the stream of medical research and education of technology. The christen Medical Collage Hospital is located in the heart of the town & serves world class treatment at affordable charges to the patients of tropical diseases. The Vellore institute of technology is also serving to the nation on its way.
Apart from the above Vellore have so many tourist places to entertain its visitors interested in historical places, nature and in temples also.
The fort is located in the middle of Vellore town and opposite side of old bus stand. Fort is made by granite stones picked from the quarries of arkot and chittor. It is spreads in area of 133 acres and surrounded by a moat to protect itself from the enemies.
Sri Jalagandeeswar temple:-
The Jalagandeeswar temple is located inside the area of Vellore fort. It is dedicated to the lord Shiva named Jalagandeeswar. The architecture and craftsmanship of the temple is the proof of high class architecture.
The government museum is located into the campus of Vellore fort in lakshmanswami town hall. It is a multipurpose museum having a great collection of different types of artifacts like archeology, history, geology and botany also. The museum is open all days except government holidays between 9a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 2p.m to 5p.m. by paying of a nominal admission fee.
Sripuram Golden temple:-
The sripuram golden temple is situated in a small hilly range at thirumalaikodi in Vellore district. The temple spreads in an area of 100 acres. The temple has a lustful gold covering, and is a magnificent sculpture of Indian artist. It is a well known temple as lakshmi narayani temple. This is a temple of goddess lakshmi called lakshmi amma.
Amirthi Zoological Park:-The amirthi zoological park is an amusement park with wild animals, small waterfalls and forest of herbal trees for the nature lovers. It is situated 25km away from Vellore town. Bird lover can watch different types of birds in open forest.
How to reach Vellore:-
By air Bangalore is the nearest air port in Karnataka state.105km away from Vellore and well connected with allover India. By rail katpadi is the nearest railway station 7km from Vellore city.
By road it is well connected with Chennai capital of Tamil Nadu and also with Bangalore. When it comes to travelling, regular buses of state government runs between Chennai to Vellore 2.5hours journey and Vellore to Bangalore 3.5hours journey.
