Central Museum:

The central museum of Indore is located near the GPO of Indore city and was founded in 1929. It primarily focuses on the pre historic period of the Indian civilization and is one of the engaging places for the people who take deep interest in knowing the past civilization.

The exhibition of the sculptures from Parmar dynasty is a sign of marvellous craftsmanship. The proportionate casting of the figures, the ornamental in the stone is worth a sight.  The medieval and pre-medieval Hindu and Jain Sculptures, mainly of Shiva and Parvati seated on Nandi, from the reign of Guptas and Paramanas from the temples of Hinglajgarh have found their spaces here. The beautiful doorframes adorned with figures are one of the attractions here.

There are two galleries here; one exhibits the finest collection of the artefacts from pre historic period from 5000-4000 BC. The second gallery has the Hindu mythological carvings. Also, there are stone tools, quartz, sickles, ornaments, coins, arms, armours etc.
