The Lakh Bahosi Bird Sanctuary in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh is one of the famous Bird sanctuaries of India, where lakhs of migratory birds flock to this place. This place is about 40 km from the city of Kannauj. People also come to see these birds at a close distance and capture them in their frames.

The Lakh Bahosi Bird Sanctuary is one of the largest bird sanctuaries in India, that covers a Lakh Bahoshi Bird Sanctuarydistance of 80 sq km. It has a large shallow lake, where birds and some wildlife can be seen. This sanctuary is very near to the villages of Lakh and Bahosi, hence the name. As per the forest statistics, 49 different species and families of birds are seen here.

The bird life contains birds like painted storks, herons, geese, pelicans and pochards, and other such migratory birds of different colors, size and voices.

The wildlife in this region includes blue bull, mongoose, jackals and the jungle cats. Many researchers come here along with wildlife photographers, to see and study the birds. Extreme care is taken by the authorities for not disturbing the birds for any kind.  The entry fee to visit this sanctuary is close to Rs 50.  The best time to visit this place during the day is in the early morning to late morning and in the evening.

For those who want to visit Lakh Bahosi Bird Sanctuary, the best time to visit is from the month of November to March. The nearest bus station to Kannauj is about 35 km away near the national highway 91.
